Stress Busters!

Hey everyone, so this week is Mid-terms and in order to relieve some anxiety A.L.P.H.A., Multicultural Programs, and R.O.O.T. held their annual Stress Buster. We went down to the local bowling alley to knock down some pins. It was a lot of fun and a great way to take a break from all that studying!

Also, this past weekend I went to Grand Valley State University for the Model Arab League (MAL) to debate on the historical and political views of the Arab countries. Adrian College stole the show with awards, as well as myself (I represented Somalia and received the Individual Excellence award granted by the chair of the Council on Political Affairs). One of AC's students will be invited back next year to be Assistant Secretary of the Model Arab League. It's a really great opportunity, and I was happy to be a part of this year's amazing team!

PS. Other students from Adrian College who received recognition at MAL are as follows:

Chris Ronquist and Bryan Paps, representing Iraq, were awarded Best
Delegation to the Joint Defense Council

Perry Kuipers and Sara Smithers (Iraq) tied George Stauch and Mitch
Harris (Somalia) for Best Delegation to the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers

Amanda Liske (United Arab Emirates) tied David Johnson and Ali Bani
Mustafa (Iraq) for Honorable Mention Best Delegation to the Council on Political Affairs

Troy Niblock and Andy Fox (Iraq) were awarded Best Delegation to the
Council of Arab Environmental Affairs Ministers

Adrian College's Iraqi delegation, which included Stan Rooksberry
and Amber Williams as well as Andy, Troy, Bryan, Chris, Ali, David, Perry and Sara, tied the U of M Dearborn (Bahrain) for Best Overall Delegation

Shane Hinson, a junior, not only performed commendably chairing acouncil for the first time, but was also elected Assistant Secretary General for 2009-2010. He will therefore be working very closely with GVSU over the next year in organizing the 2010 Michigan Model.
